Torta de Semolina

First of all, let’s translate!

“Torta” has many different culinary connotations, depending on where in the world you are. Torta = Sweet Cake in both Italian and Spanish. This is the one we are focusing on today. Don’t get mixed up though, as “Torta” can also mean an omelette style dish in the Philippines, or a type of sandwich in Mexico! Now ya know…

Semolina, for those of you who aren’t familiar with it, is the coarse, purified wheat middlings on durum wheat, typically used in making pasta and cous cous. It has sweet applications too, and that is what we’re exploring today with this delicious recipe. Here’s what the final product will look like – amazing, huh?
